A narrow stone path winds through a lush green meadow toward mist-covered mountains in the distance. The landscape is surrounded by rolling hills, pine trees, and benches nestled in the field, evoking a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere.

The Path to the Present Moment

When things don't go as planned

Have you ever had something not work out the way you had hoped or wanted, and were then left feeling like the world as you know it was falling apart?
Maybe the job you were interviewing for was given to another candidate.
Maybe the relationship you were in began to slowly fall apart, then completely unravel.
Or the offer you put on a house wasn't accepted.
The appointment got canceled.
Your car wouldn't start.
You hit every red light known to man.
You couldn't find a parking space.
The line you're in isn't moving.

Whatever the "thing" that happened—regardless of size and magnitude—is essentially part of your path.
And when things don't work out the way we intend or hope, it's easy to project our thoughts and beliefs that these circumstances are ruining our lives.

Reframing Setbacks

But what if we took another viewpoint?
What if we changed our thinking to trust?
To faith that whatever is happening in the moment is rerouting us?
Or is happening for the best possible outcome in our lives?

Because these lessons, experiences, and events are not punishments.
They are not life sentences meant to keep us stuck.
They are, in fact, gifts (from the Universe).
Because it is the path to the present moment.

The narratives, the projections, the storylines and the meanings we attach to people, places, and things all stem from our mind and are based on our interpretation of past events.
There is the known and the unknown—and what's between is solely a projection.

The challenge is to view every single experience with curiosity—observing objectively, without attaching emotion or our storyline to it.
Stay open to not knowing and to uncertainty.
For it is the unknown that holds the treasures of life.

Another shift in our thinking is to look at our stories with the mindset that everything happening is a PLOT TWIST!!

We can create our reality and shape its significance by what we assign meaning to.
Because the future is simply a thought construct that begins in our minds.

Sitting in the Unknown

Can you sit in the unknown?
Can you rest in the in-between?

What if not knowing the outcome of how things are unfolding...
IS the point.

Because really, if you are reading this, you have the gift of life in this moment.
Your path—every single moment that has unfolded, no matter how seemingly unimportant—has led you to this very point in time.

And in truth, the present moment is the only thing that can be experienced.
The past is in the rearview.
The future is a vision through the windshield.
And the present moment?

Let that be you in the passenger seat...
Feeling the wind in your hair, the sun on your skin, and the breath filling your lungs.

Trusting the Process

So what if we began to shift our projections, our meanings, our interpretations—to those of only good?
Only the best outcomes?

To believe that our challenges are not here to break us, but to shape us into the best versions of ourselves?

Welcome the unknown.
Welcome uncertainty.
There is no need to resist what is unfolding—because the more we try to force anything into place, the more we ultimately suffer.

So be at peace with the present.
Be open to the miracles unfolding.
Look at every moment as a step on the ever-unfolding path to the present moment.

What a true gift. 💜
